CIA Tortures Cartoon

Cia waterboarding cartoon

Usually it’s the cartoonist that is tortured, but the CIA got a hold of my cartoon and it disappeared for awhile.  Thank god it survived and I was able to recover it.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t like to talk much and tends to curl up in the corner of my studio.

McCain Economics

June 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

John McCain economics

John McCain is a great politician…which doesn’t always mean he’s good at economics. People claim Obama is no better with economic policies than McCain, but he managed to generate a record $200 million war chest. You have to go back to Bill Clinton as a President who pulled himself up by his own boot straps. Born poor in Arkansas, and with his mother struggling, Bill managed to get a pretty good education and worked his way up the ladder. Barack, in a similar fashion, has followed the same route. John McCain, god bless him, has swung from privileged vine to vine. He’s paid his dues no doubt serving our country and enduring incredible hardships, but when it comes to economics can he crunch the numbers and balance our budget like the average everyday citizen?

Diplomacy Economics 101

iraq war and iran cartoon

From Frank Rich’s Sunday NY Times article Gallup Poll…most Americans want to initiate talks with Iran.

With McCain trying to peg Obama as naive when it comes to foreign affairs, I wanted to illustrate the simple economics of handling the middle east. The war in Iraq costs about $100,000 per minute to operate. (Seattle Times), while a phone call to Tehran only costs ¢3.2 per minute. While I’m no economist, I can figure out that exhausting all diplomatic channels is the cheapest and most effective way to deal with the middle east. I am all for squeezing Iran with embargoes, but China and Russia seem to value trade more than nuclear proliferation. There is no easy solution with Iran and far too many issues and situations to solve with one easy phone call, but we need to initiate dialog and exercise all channels. It is unfortunate that Bush put down the war trump card so soon…we now have very little choices when it comes to the rest of the world.

Tom and Jerry/Hillary and Barack

June 9, 2008 · 6 Comments

tom and jerry, hillary and barack cartoon

I still can’t believe that they are friends. It reminds me back in the 70’s when some idiot Hollywood exec thought it was a good idea to have Tom and Jerry be friends. I know Hillary made a great concession speech, but it is just too good to be true. I miss the vindictive and embattled Hillary, please bring her back. As a cartoonist I love to reference classic cartoons. So far I have had Hillary as Daffy Duck and Barack as Bullwinkle and I’m sure I’ll find more…so stay tooned!

Red Wings win the Stanley Cup

Red Wings win the Stanley Cup

Cartoon has just been published on the Detroit Free Press sports page!

Being from Detroit, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to draw a hockey cartoon. Yes, the NHL is not the most popular league in the states, but this year had to generate some interest. The Penguins were a great team with Sidney Crosby headlining the NHL, and Detroit is always going to be called “Hockey Town”. So in this regards I celebrate hockey as a great sport and worthy of a post. As for the NBA, sure the Lakers/Celtics series is worth watching, but I’ll take my Wings and hockey any day!
